Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. From early on, the organization had deep support from Ray Kroc’s empire. Gerald Newman, Chief Accounting Officer for McDonald’s Corporation, was “one of the founders of Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities and was president of R.M.C.C.” RMHC has a global network of Chapters in 52 countries under three core programs: the Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. The organization has received accolades and awards for its contributions.

Day 3 & its #GivingTuesday! Giving Tuesday is a movement to create a national day of giving to kick off the giving season added to the calendar on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, according to a news release. The second annual Giving Tuesday is Dec. 3. Partners are asked to create and commit to a project for/on #GivingTuesday and then help spread the word to their networks. Giving Tuesday celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support non-profit organizations.

Today I donated to Equality Now.

Equality Now is a non-governmental organization founded in 1992 whose purpose is to, in its own words, work “for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women and girls around the world”.The group provides an international framework for spreading awareness of issues and providing support to local grassroots groups working to address issues of concern to it. The organization lists its primary concerns as being rape, domestic violence, reproductive rights, trafficking of women, female genital mutilation, and equal access for women to economic opportunity and political participation.
